The course will introduce participants to the black art of placing rock protection, belaying and safe rope management systems. Candidates will be given the opportunity to experience leading and will be offered advice on route choice and route finding. Safety plays a big role in this course!

This course is aimed at those climbers who have climbed extensively in a climbing wall environment but would like to learn the essential skills and techniques to climb safely outdoors. Issues covered during the day include: placement of leader placed protection, setting up of anchors and the belay chain, belay position, as well as many more subjects. You must be a minimum 11 years old at the commencement of the course.
  • Course Length: Usually 2 days but shorter or longer programmes can be arranged
  • Staff Ratio: Max. 1:6
