So what to expect!
Your Adventure Itinerary - Typically five days of varied activities to include some or maybe all of the following. Those highlighted with * are typically experienced by those who join us for a return visit.
Rock climbing including a local crag only minutes from the in the village and only newly developed
Canyon descent of a magnificent 12km gorge
Cave abseil – known only by the locals and the resident bats
Mystery ‘cultural’ experience
Ascent of mainland Spain’s highest mountain Mulhacen including an overnight stay in a mountain ‘hut’ *
Via Ferratta only 300m high. *
Beach visit – for those who love ‘nature’ there is even an option of a nudist beach
You don’t have to do all of them you could have a day off and do as you please, enjoy the sun, trip to the coast, visit Granada – the options are endless.
Where you will stay and eat – In our very own town house right at the front of the village of Murtas in the heart of Las Alpujarras. We can boast spectacular unhindered views across rolling hills towards the Mediterranean Sea. A typical, 200-year-old, Spanish home with a mix of old and new, some luxuries and some back to very basic living but all the more for the sense of adventure and fun. We are not selling you luxury accommodation, it is just somewhere you get to gather, eat and sleep.
There is a lovely large sun/eating terrace where you can chill early morning and hopefully enjoy some spectacular sunrises as well as enjoying a chilled out or social evening. We even have three sunbeds and a hammock but no mad rush to put towels out as these will be removed (that was humour). Food will be a group exercise to prepare and make and/or we can eat out if needed.
What you need to do - You need to arrange your own flights, which if you book early enough can be quite cheap, 9 - 15 weeks beforehand is usually the best we have found. If you pack well you could avoid the suitcase cost or just share one (just a note sometimes climbing ropes won’t get through airport security, if you were planning on bringing your own) – you might tie up the cabin crew apparently! Still haven’t worked out what the danger is there.
You, or one of you will need to drive as you will need to hire a car to get to Murtas – I can recommend the company we use normally. This could be shared once we know who is going and the group has formed.
